Description: On Boxing Day 2004, a massive earthquake struck off the coast of Sumatra in Indonesia. Also known as the Indian Ocean tsunami, the magnitude 9.0 earthquake's rippling effect sent shockwaves of tsunami to countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and went as far as Madagascar. More than 230,000 were killed. nnSingapore aided in the recovery efforts in the most affected province of Aceh, Indonesia, as well as in other countries.
